We look forward to seeing all our friends, old and new on Thursday, August 29th 2024 @9am.
We hope you have all had a lovely summer break and are ready to get going with the new school year and all the fun and learning that we will have.
News:
We are delighted to welcome Mr. Ruaidhri C. Fennell to 5th and 6th classes for the coming year and we wish Mr. Cillian Rowney all the best for his travels and look forward to his return.
We are also delighted to welcome Ms. Gina Lalor to the team. Gina will be teaching 3rd and 4th classes this year. Mrs. Bourke is expecting another happy addition to her family in the coming months and we hope to find somebody lovely to fill her shoes in 1st and 2nd classes soon. Ms. Roisin Cassin will be taking on the role of Infant’s Teacher while Ms. Catherine Delaney will be working in the EAL role. Ms. Roisín Cartwright will continue in her role as ASD Teacher and will be joined by Mr. Ciarán Rowney.
We will be purchasing all of the required books and copybooks for the children so you only need to buy the items on their stationery lists. Please ensure all items are marked with your child’s name before they come to school.
Don’t forget to update lunch orders on the Lunch Bag App before the return to school. Please take time to discuss with your children which items they like in order to avoid waste. All nutritional information is available on the App. New families will be assigned a code in the coming weeks so that you can set it up before the new year. Please ensure that your child brings a snack and drink each day for morning break.
We hope you have enjoyed updates here on our website over the past year and remember that we also have a Facebook page to keep you informed on everything to do with the school. We welcome your feedback and if you feel that we have missed anything or if you have any suggestions for additional items that would be useful, we would be delighted to hear from you so that we can make it as informative and user friendly as possible. We will be asking you over the coming weeks to let us know if for any reason you would prefer that your child’s image does not appear on our website. We will always do our utmost to ensure the safety of your children while in our care and online.
Reminders:
All children should have all of their lovely new belongings marked with their name.
The school will provide all books and copies this year.
Junior Infants will finish school daily at 12noon until September13th.
Senior Infants will be in school until 1.40pm each day.
All other classes will finish daily at 2.40pm
The school bus does not run at 1.40pm but After School Club will be up and running from September 1st for Senior Infants only and then from September 16th for Juniors. If you wish to avail of this, please contact us before the return to school to book your place.
When collecting your child from school, please wait outside the gate and the teacher will bring them to you.
Parking at the school can be challenging so please take your time and be aware of and patient with other road users.
There are 2 school buses running daily from Portlaoise Town. Bus routes may be subject to change for the coming year so please watch out for updates before the return to school on August 29th. New families will be assigned a pick up point and time in August.
We will notify you of the times and Bus Stop that apply to you.
Valid tickets must be produced to the driver in order to access the bus.
Please be patient with us while we get these routes established and remember that you must drop and collect your child to and from the Bus Stop. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointed time.
Any money being paid to the school must be placed in an envelope with name, amount and purpose clearly marked on the outside. If you need to discuss this, please contact us by September 6th.
