Here in Barnashrone NS we have never had a school uniform.
The matter of uniform has been raised over the years and has even been voted on by the parent body who have never voted to change.
Although there is no uniform demanded, children should be neatly and appropriately dressed and have their hair tidy. Clothes should be practical and comfortable for children to work and play in. Tracksuits and other comfortable clothing are chosen by most. Skirts, shorts, dresses and tops should not be too short as this is neither practical nor comfortable when children are running and playing games.
Clothes bearing offensive or inappropriate writing or pictures must not be worn in school.
Many forms of jewellery are a danger to the pupil or others and children will be asked to remove items if they are deemed unsuitable by the teacher.
Makeup must not be worn in school.
We aim to allow the children to have outside time most days but this can mean that they will come home with messy clothes and shoes. Keep more precious shoes and clothing for home please.
Coats and rain jackets are very important for all seasons and all clothing should be marked with your child’s name to avoid confusion.
